Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. This position involves working closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, Day Program, and community environments. The DSP is responsible for fostering independence while delivering compassionate care tailored to each individual's needs.

Duties

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Implement care plans and assist with medication administration as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Support clients in engaging in social activities and community events.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
  • Assist clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' quality of life.

Skills

  • Experience in group home settings or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong patient observation skills to monitor changes in client conditions effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and team members.
  • Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education
  • at least 18 years of age
  • vailid driver's license

Must have or be willing to obtain:

  • first aid/CPR (company will cover the cost of the course if you don't have)
  • clear criminal record check
  • Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check
